I did this page for the 50 bucks and under mods
My bike was stock with silver/gray power
coated motor and transmission. It was ok but with all the chrome I have
I thought it would look so much better black. I did some asking around on the
HD forums and decided to go ahead and do it, this is the process I took.
Here are some before pictures. Opps I started to tape some then remembered I wanted pics :)

These are the products I purchased for the job. 000 Steel
Wool, Acetone, Super sharp painters tape,
Tack cloth, Rags and Shop towels, Razor blades, Regular masking tape, Brake
parts cleaner and
Dupli-Color engine enamel low gloss black DE1634
I started by taking off all the accessories/chrome that I
could that would not require a new gasket! I removed Air cleaner, Transmission
cover,
Horns, Shifter linkage and anything else in the way! I ended up with this.

Now I cleaned all the areas that was being painted (pretty
much all the powered coated gray stuff) with the steel wool, then with the
acetone.
Now for the fun part... Tape everything up that is not getting painted hours of
fun :) I even put blankets over the
wheels, handlebars "shit" everything but the motor :) Ended up like this.

OK Now I blew everything off with some light air, then
wiped everything down with tack cloth. It's paint time, I took my time
and put a real light coat on, let it set a few and then did a complete cover.
Waited about 10 minutes took a bright light
and did a close inspection and touched up anything that was light or missed and
that's it.

I myself let it sit and dry for 24 hours then removed
the tape and installed all my stuff back on!
( I left mine black but if you don't want your fins black take a rag with some break cleaner on
it and wipe the paint off the fins
Be careful not to touch anything else!! )

Here she is.... I will get a better pic later when I get it outside!
