A Frederick man was killed when his motorcycle crashed about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 8300 block of Rocky Springs Road, said Frederick County State's Attorney Charlie Smith.
The man's name had not been released as of 8:45 p.m. because family members had not been notified, said Frederick County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Jennifer Bailey.

The 51-year-old Frederick resident was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital after the crash, said Lt. Ron Hibbard.

Although no one witnessed the crash, investigators believe a deer might have ran onto the road causing the driver to lose control of his Victory motorcycle, Hibbard said.

Members of the office's traffic unit took pictures and tried to reconstruct how the crash occurred. The state's attorney office also responded.

A section of Rocky Springs Road was closed for more than an hour as police investigated

Not sure what happened here. I found this picture on the internet, Don't look good!

On April 16 at 1:57 a.m., a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Andre Lynn Prue, 38, of Ft. Washington, Md., was traveling south on Smallwood Drive with a passenger, Barbara Ann Kidd, 40, of Waldorf, on the back of the motorcycle. As the motorcycle approached the bridge north of Md. Route 925 the driver lost control, crossed into the left lane and then struck the guardrail on the bridge. Both the driver and the passenger struck the guardrail as the motorcycle continued over the bridge. They were then ejected from the motorcycle.

Kidd was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he is said to be in serious but stable condition. Both Prue and Kidd were wearing helmets, but it appears the helmets were not secured properly and came off both Prue and Kidd when they impacted the guardrail.

The eastbound side of Smallwood Drive was closed between Md. Route 925 and Copley Avenue until 5:35 a.m. for the investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Cpl. R. Padgett of the Charles County Sheriffs Office's Traffic Operations Unit. Speed is considered a factor.

Tyler Patterson Curry, 22, died on Friday night in Boonsboro, Maryland when his motorcycle crashed head-on with a 2007 Mack tractor that had been pulling an empty fuel tanker on Alternate U.S. 40. Curry had just come from picking up his new 2007 Yamaha YZR6 when the collision happened. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The truck driver, Kenneth Woodrow Knight, sustained no injuries. Maryland State Police have been investigating the crash.

Recent figures released by the U.S. government show that the number of motorcycle fatalities has continued to rise in the last 10 years. This rise is consistent with the numbers of motorcycle fatalities reported in Maryland, where last year police recorded 1,701 injuries and 82 deaths involving motorcycles—that’s two times more injuries and triple the number of deaths involving motorcycles than the number of injuries and deaths in 1997.
